Have you noticed there are balancing realities in all parts of our lives? Some days it’s sunny and others its stormy. There are times life is so good you feel like you’re walking on a cloud. The next month or year everything’s so hard you’re over it. This is true whether you’re thinking about work, family, relationships or anything else.
My hubby and I have just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. I’d say it’s been our reality. We’ve had some boomer years and we’ve had some years we’ve worked really hard. In between, there’s been lots of kind of average ones too.
Some people call this the yin and yang of life. It doesn’t really matter what name you give it, what’s important is how you handle these balancing realities. If you expect that life ought to serve you up permanent highs you’re likely to become grumpy (or depressed!) by 30 when things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s if you get that far!
On the other hand, if you can see that we all live with these balancing realities, you have hope in the days, weeks and months that, as the famous proverb reminds us,
“This, too, shall pass.”
So whether your current reality is great or poor or simply just ordinary, keep moving on. The sun’s come out every day in history so far, even when all you’ve seen is the clouds.
